Job Overview

You will join a team consisting of both R&D engineers and scientists, conducting high-quality applied research and innovation activities.
We are looking for a passionate team player to join our Electronics and Networks team with a desire, ability, and talent to work on different projects on Photonics and Instrumentation. Projects will range from integration and proof-of-concepts to beyond state-of-the-art European Photonics research and innovation projects in fields such as Water and Food Quality Monitoring, Biosensing and Healthcare/Wellbeing. PhD graduates will be offered the opportunity to perform original postdoctoral research in their field of expertise with emphasis on applying their findings in industry and in new CyRIC projects or concepts.
CyRIC’s Electronics and Networks (ECN) Division currently coordinates and participates in several H2020 and RIF projects (GRACED, CODE-REFARM, SWINOSTICS, CYANOBOX, IREDA). With an extensive network of top European and local Universities and Companies, we stay at the forefront of cutting-edge innovations and have the opportunity to work and innovate with the latest Photonics and Instrumentation technologies.

Responsibilities and Duties

As an R&D Engineer in our team, you will be expected to:
• Design and develop functional prototypes for projects involving, photonics, electronics, electromechanical and software components.
• Produce innovative concepts for new projects and proposals based on research and analysis of state-of-the-art and funding programs in the areas of interest.
• Participate in R&D projects involving technical implementation & deliverable writing.
• Travel and work together with external project partners in Europe towards the efficient implementation of R&D projects and pilots.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant MSc/MEng/Dipl-Ing/PhD Specialisation or working experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience with commercial IoT platforms and customer deployments
  • Experience in participation in EU and/or RIF funded projects
  • LoRaWAN devices, gateways, network server
  • Linux Operating System
  • Firmware development (ARM)
  • Software/Middleware Technologies (REST APIs, MQTT, WebSockets, SQL, NoSQL)
  • AI/Machine Learning Technologies
  • Inquisitive nature and curiosity about new technologies
  • Professional qualifications in Networks or Systems

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD/Dr-Ing or MSc/MEng/Dipl-Ing in Photonics/Electronics/Physics or closely related Engineering/Science fields.
  • Minimum 2-years postgraduate experience in a photonics laboratory & instrumentation
  • Experience in participation in EU and/or RIF funded projects
  • Experience in LabVIEW and NI instrumentation
  • Experience with electronics laboratory equipment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in Greek or English
  • Team player and problem-solver

 

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant postdoctoral or working experience will be considered an advantage.

 

Familiarity with below will be considered an advantage:

  • System automation and control systems
  • At least one programming language (Python, C/C++, Matlab)
  • Prototyping systems and/or microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry)
  • Hands-on electronics
  • Hydraulics/ microfluidics
  • Molecular biosensorsLanguage Requirements
  • English OR Greek (Fluent verbal and written communication)
