We are excited to announce the launch of our new project, AEOLUS. This initiative funded by the Republic of Cyprus, through the Research and Innovation Foundation, aims to create a cutting–edge solution for the trade-off between performance and efficiency of AI-based object detection on UAVs. The project outcomes can be used in smart city management to enhance traffic management, emergency response and public safety monitoring, improving urban planning and helping municipalities tackle modern urban problems that impact the civilian’s quality of life.
The 3-year project is a collaboration between CyRIC (HO) and the European University of Cyprus (PA1). It aims to advance scientific knowledge through innovations in artificial intelligence, object detection, and the use of AI-driven computer vision for smart city applications. The resulting innovations will be benchmarked and evaluated in real-time through realistic scenarios.
