DIH-World aims to harmonize and widen the landscape of European DIHs across all of Europe to address the “digital innovation hubs divide”.

DIH-World aims to accelerate the uptake of advanced digital technologies by European manufacturing SMEs in all sectors by supporting them in building sustainable competitive advantages and reaching global markets. DIH-World strengthens the capacities of regional DIHs, particularly in underrepresented regions across Europe.

As intermediaries of successful local SME digital transformation, DIH-World aims at providing DIHs, access to harmonized tools, well proven technologies, effective methodologies, sound knowledge, smart investment sources, rich training assets and overall a vibrant innovation environment.

The final aim is to accelerate the matureness of DIHs and the development of their collaboration capabilities, and avoid a DIH divide due to lack of access to technologies, skills, networks, investment and infrastructures with special emphasis in underrepresented regions; so they can capitalize and leverage on the European DIHs Networks their resources and facilities for the benefit of their local SMEs.

DIH-World aims to build a strong and sustainable network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) operating in regions that are underrepresented in previous DIH-related initiatives. The DIH-World Network will be built to accommodate and support new, developing and established DIHs, including those currently identified as under development in the JRC DIH Catalogue. The Network will support the delivery of digital innovation support services by DIHs to regional manufacturing ecosystems with a special focus on start-ups, SMEs and mid-caps in more traditional and less digitalised manufacturing sub-sectors. The aim is to provide regional DIHs with the skills, tools and support they need to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of regional manufacturing industries through the use of digital technologies. Ultimately, DIH-World aims to prepare regional DIHs and their manufacturing ecosystems for participation in the Digital Europe Programme in 2021.

CyRIC participates as the coordinator of the CYDIHUB, Cyprus Digital Innovation Hub and the coordinator of one out of the eight regional experiments on digital transformation with local SMEs. In particular, the local experiment is conducted in collaboration with Capsule Skateboards, the participant SME in the project. The role of CyRIC will be to become the technology provider that will contribute with expertise in the design, development and control of robotics and autonomous systems and assist in the automation of the production process of Capsule Skateboards.
