CoRe 5G is a European initiative funded under the ERASMUS-EDU-2025-PEX-COVE call (Project No. 101260846) and implemented over a period of 48 months. The project brings together a consortium of 22 partners and 8 associated partners, coordinated by OTE — Organismos Tilepikoinonion tis Ellados (Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation).
The project aims to establish a transnational network of seven regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) across Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, and Cyprus, fostering cooperation, innovation, and excellence in vocational education and training within the 5G ecosystem.
Building Skills for a Resilient and Sustainable 5G Future
CoRe 5G tackles Europe’s skills gap in 5G resilience, cybersecurity, and sustainable telecoms by strengthening vocational education and supporting a secure, green, and digitally resilient Europe.
At the heart of the project is the development of skills ecosystems that connect the digital and green transitions. Through a three-tier upward convergence approach, CoRe 5G will link advanced capabilities in Northern Europe with emerging expertise in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean regions.
This transnational cooperation will support the establishment of seven Innovation Labs, equipped with 5G testbeds and digital twin environments.
Building on this infrastructure, CoRe 5G will establish more than 25 industry partnerships and train over 500 professionals across EQF levels 3–5 through upskilling, reskilling, entry, and specialization pathways.
Training will be enhanced through immersive and gamified learning environments, allowing learners to practise in simulated multi-risk scenarios.
The project will also strengthen cross-border learning through a Mobility Toolkit, enabling 144 participants to exchange blockchain-verified credentials. Finally, a Regional Skills Observatory will provide quarterly skills forecasts, helping curricula continuously adapt to emerging needs in the telecommunications sector.
