The successful candidate will fill the role of a Software Developer, with the specific purpose to participate in the ENCASE project and work towards enhancing security and privacy for minors in the social web.

You will get the opportunity to learn how to apply your knowledge, working alongside our resident software development team for a period of 6 months and then transfer to London, UK and/or Salonica, Greece for 12 months. Once the exchange period has expired you will return back to Cyprus for a further period of 6 months.

The concept of the project is to leverage the latest advances in usable security and privacy to design and implement an architecture for the protection of minors from malicious actors in online social networks.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications: BSc Computer Science
  • Desired Educational Qualifications: Relevant Post Graduate or PhD Level of Education with familiarity in research
  • Relevant Experience: Minimal working experience required. Formal education in Computer Science and Software Development (or related topics) is required. It is important that the candidate has relevant educational qualifications relevant to Web Application Development and/or basic work experience in the field.
  • Language Requirements: Greek, English
  • Travel Requirements: Based on the position requirements, the successful candidate will be required to spend up to 12 months in London UK and/or Salonica, Greece, where she/he will embark in exploratory/research work. Once the research has been completed, she/he will return back to Cyprus and join our local team of experience researchers. Up to two return trips back to Cyprus will be funded during that period. The relocation period expenses will be fully covered.

Job Objective – Primary Function

The successful candidate will fill the role of a Software Developer, with the specific purpose to participate in the ‘ENCASE’ project. This is a project that lies under the “Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE)” programme, directly related to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Call: H2020-MSCA-RISE-2015.
The successful candidate will work with the local development team in our base headquarters in Cyprus for a period of approximately 6 months and then transfer to London UK and/or Salonica, Greece for a period of up to 12 months. Once the exchange period has expired the successful candidate will return back to Cyprus where they will share the newly gained knowledge with the rest of the development team over a period of 6 months.
The concept of the project is to leverage the latest advances in usable security and privacy to design and implement an architecture for the protection of minors from malicious actors in online social networks.
This particular role is targeted towards candidates, with minimal or academic experience in Web Application Development and Digital Marketing. The successful candidate will acquire know-how from the Department of Computer Science at the University College London and/or Department of Informatics at the Aristotle University in Salonica Greece, on the deployment and presentation of content analysis algorithms able to automatically detect sensitive content, from images and videos, that may contain private user data, and the integration of the developed algorithms.
The experience is designed to offer knowledge and advancement in the field of research, with the ability to contribute to scientific publications. The position paves the way for people with an interest in an academic or research oriented careers, with the benefits of a salary and a funded relocation.

Job Objective – Secondary Function

The successful candidate will be required to contribute not only to the ENCASE project but additionally work on other required tasks as per our digital marketing and entrepreneurship team’s agenda. Over the first and last 6 months of the contract employment, the work will be focussed exclusively with the team on other projects and activities.
She/he will be given the opportunity to prove their value as a worthy team member, and if this proves to be the case, they will be given a priority chance to negotiate a full-time associate position with the company at the end of the two-year contract.

Job Specific Competences

The candidates should have the ability to understand and translate Software Requirements, and have a good understanding the Software Development Process.

  • Write and Maintain Web Applications
  • CMS, Theming and Module Development Experience
  • Knowledgeable of Web Application Development Frameworks, such as Angular, React, Django etc.
  • Solid Understanding of HTML5/CSS3, jQuery and Responsive Design
  • Solid Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • UI / UX familiarization
  • Relational Databases and NoSQL Distributed Databases
  • MVC and MVVM Architectural Patterns
  • Code and Deploy Applications in a Cross-Platform, Cross-Browser Environment
  • Experience Building User Interfaces and Prototypes From Wireframes and Designs
  • Experience With Git and Github
  • Familiar With Development and Debugging Tools for Cross-Browser Issues
  • Familiar With Social Media and Third Party APIs
  • Knowledgeable of REST-Based APIs
